| As many of you know, Cantor Kritz is recovering from a triple by-pass heart surgery. Since his recuperation began from that surgery he and I have had multiple conversations regarding his return to work. On January 20, Cantor Kritz informed me that he will retire as cantor of TBE effective immediately
Cantor Kritz has had a fifteen year history as our Cantor. When many of us daven, it is with the nusach (tune) which he uses that we call our own - those tunes bring us comfort and will continue to do that. His years of leading holiday and Shabbat services will be fondly remembered by many. He has been the primary educator of our Bar and a Bat Mitzvah students for those same numbers of years and has led hundreds of our children through the labyrinth of those ceremonies. His students were well prepared and were always confident and competent. He will continue to teach his current list of Bar and Bat Mitzvah students
Many of us have known no other Cantor at our shul and many of us will feel a sense of loss as move forward without him.
I know that each of us will have a different experience within our building now that we know he won't be returning. As president of Temple Beth Emunah I wish him a refuah sh'leima (a complete and speedy recovery) and I extend our thanks to him for his years of service
